Messages Stuck in outbox?

Do any of you end up with PM's sitting in your "outbox" on this forum? Often I delete it and resend the message later, but maybe I'm missing something?

I may be wrong, but I've read somewhere that the msg will stay in the outbox until the sendee has actually opened it.

It stays in the outbox until opened by recipient.
