FIrst scratch build strung up!
Re: FIrst scratch build strung up!
Thanks guys. Had pre cut kerfing and a slotted fingerboard. Bob helped a lot with the bending and neck joint. He also taught me how to join tops and backs using a shooting board and plane which was great.

Hey Mike
It looks fantastic, you should be very proud, it's quite a milestone and I'm very pleased that it sounds just as you intended, also the finish on all that reclaimed timber looks beautiful.
Enjoy your trip to the States mate, I'm sure you'll be returning with lots of future planned projects :)
See you in a couple months,
Bob

Awesome looking guitar! What did you use for finish?
Re: FIrst scratch build strung up!
Thanks, I should put some more pics since i put a tortoiseshell pickguard and decal on. It's Tru oil, 8 coats i think, open pores, basically followed DAves instructions without the pore filling.

That finished wood looks good enough to eat. Not that I recommend that. :-)
But that is a really good looking instrument, congrats!!
