CA-glue: clogging the tip and cap

Post by Herman » Tue Jan 28, 2014 4:47 pm

For years I use CA glue. I never made it to the end of the bottle. Always that annoying clogging in the tip and cap. After several times putting a needle though the tip and cutting off the top the bottle becomes unusable. Now it is not that expensive, but I wondered if one of you have a brilliant manner to keep the stuff open.
Except for keeping it clean as possible during its lifespan.

You need to use extender tips like these

We use the much finer "whisker" tips -- when the end clogs just nip off a little with a razor blade.

Do these extenders stay on the bottle or are they for a one-time use?

Just leave them on the bottle -- forget the cap.

Get the fine version -- it makes it easier to apply in almost all situations.

I don't use the bottle at all. I just suck up a cc or so into the bulb of a pipette and store it bulb down. A half inch hole drilled in a scrap of wood will hold it. It does not clog the tip of the pipette and doesn't harden or thicken. I have had it like that for weeks.

What a great thread. I have some whip tips from SM and now I know I can get them from Amazon and just leave them on the bottle?? Amazing, I can't wait to try it. I love CA.

I stopped using the tips, I also just unscrew, get some into a plastic pipette and apply. I have a variety to pipettes for different thicknesses.
