Bubinga

Post by Ray Ussery » Tue Jan 14, 2014 12:20 am

You don't hear much about Bubinga...although there seems to be quite a bit of it out there...
I don't think Ken cares for it from a few remarks in the past... (Don't quote me)
It's heavy, supposed to be hard to bend like some of the mahogany out there...and a lot of others too...
but beyond that? What?
It appears to be fine grained and doesn't need to be filled (So say most).
I have seen some beautiful stuff at a reasonable price...so anyway, just curious, what say you? :>)

Well I'm just starting my next build - bubinga!! Bending won't be a problem since i do the lamination thing. I've heard good things about it; proof's in the pudding.

I like bubinga, the waterfall stuff is hard to bend. On my guitar my sides are not figured cause I broke that set of sides. But I love the look. So in this guitar you can see straight bubinga and waterfall.

Beautiful stuff. Yup...I've heard the interlocking grain makes it a tuff bend.
