I am not sure this band saw will give your much more than you 12". The 1 hp is small for 8" resaw. If you are really talking about 16" guitars you want 10-12" of resaw capability. Basically I am not sure there is much more you can do for a guitar between 5" and 8" of resaw capability.

If you save a bit more money the Rikon 14 delux is often at a good price with 13" resaw capability built in without a riser. I spent an hour with the director of the carpentry shop of a Seattle community collage and a regional Woodcraft director going over the Rikon 14 band saw and it received very high marks relative to the more expensive Jet and Laguna 14" saws. There are standard carter after market kits for it.

I like the Rikon very much. It's $400 more though, plus a huge delivery charge.
OTOH, if 8" is not sufficient, there's not much reason to think about purchasing.

Thanks fellers.

Dave, I'm sure you are already looking at Grizzly? Their saws are well rated, and I think there are some discounts right now, of course you have that blasted shipping cost...but no tax! With a riser block; 12" capacity, I think you can get one for around $500 right now.

Right now is not a good time, but there may be some after-Christmas sales, who knows? I do like the Grizz; I don't like that huge shipping cost.

There is always used.
I bought a really nice NRA 24" (3hp, 3-phase) from a retiring cabinet maker for $700.

Just keep your eyes open and your tool fund ready!
