24" long allen wrench
My next build will may have access to the truss rod through an endpin hole. Any ideas for a good source for an allen wrench long enough for that?

Re: 24" long allen wrench
I think such a tool is mentioned somewhere in this process -- if I get around to making an arch top I plan to use a similar neck joint which requires the special long wrench.

Re: 24" long allen wrench
I've never seen a Allen wrench that long. Why not do a head stock adjustment Dave?
Re: 24" long allen wrench
Maybe not all of us are able to do this, but I would weld me a spare allen wrench to a 24" pipe and a nut to the other end. Not so sophisticated, but cheap.

Kevin -- depending on the neck construction (Taylor finger joint or scarf joints being OK) running the truss rod channel through to the headstock introduces a very weak area at a high tension location. Seen tons of repairs for guitars that simply tipped over to the side and hit the floor -- bad news. Gibson and Jacksons seem particularly pretty fragile. $.02

That is my understanding Ken. I sure haven't any desire to build that way. I think Herman has a good idea there.

Your so right Ken. I rescued a 63 Gretsch acoustic from a dumpster because it hit the floor. Basically a simple repair but a luthier would have charged an arm and a leg. So the person was tossing it out. A little JBWeld and two clamps and it's been strung up over a year now with no problems. But it was a long break and lots of surface to adhere too. I've seen them much worse however and would require a very intricate repair.
