I was lucky to find an EIR board in the shop that also had a little red in it that, as a fretboard, will complement the redwood top, and a piece of redwood burl for the headplate. I've only sanded and put a coat of sealer on it; when wet, it looks really fine.

Beautiful birdseye redwood Dave. I use alot of that stabilized for my knife handles.

I am too Tony. I've been a fan of nice wood since the early sixties when I was building gun stocks. I've read that Stradavari didn't pick the highly figured wood. Didn't consider it to be as strong as he desired. I think our using highly figured wood for headstock veneers wouldn't play into that though. What do you think?
