first neck

Post by Russell Adkins » Fri Sep 13, 2013 4:17 pm

Hi everyone , I have my first neck made but not complete, this is going on an archtop guitar . I used walnut for the center and oak on each side of the walnut with figured maple on the wings of the keyhead , it will be a 14 fret to the body , since I don't have a fret rule im coping the scale from my alverez acoustic, its either a 24.5 or 24 3/4 inch scale, it really dosent matter which I guess. Im thinking ill make an oval hole instead of the typical French cuts in the body , the body will have a venution(spelling?) style on the upper bout 16 inch across the lower bout , walnut back and sides with (maybe ) spruce or cedar top , anyway im working at it lol Russ
