Two Cherries curved chisel

In another thread the builder of a guitar project was commenting on the usefulness of his curved 'Two Cherries' chisel which he used to do concave trimming of guitar braces. So that's what curved chisels are for... I'm curious as to where I might find a vendor of these chisels (yes, I know StewMac offers one at what seems to me to be a character-building price).

After posting the above, I woke up and realized I could do my own Google search, and found a whole variety of Two Cherries curved chisels - - any size most appropriate for instrument making?

Hi Peter,
I really enjoy using my Hirsch gouge (I learned that a chisel with a concave blade is called a gouge when I was looking into these) on the braces and I bought it from Lee Valley, so you can get it online if you don't have a store close by.
I recommend the 12 mm #3 or #5. The cost is around $30, but it is a quality tool and I believe a very good value at that price.

I love my 16mm curved Two Cherries chisel. Sharpening was a little more tricky than I expected, but great for carving the braces

I am buying myself a christmas present this year, one of these Two Cherries curved chisels. I've been wanting one for years!

I like your term "character building" term. I got my Schneider chisel when the price was steep, but not quite so much as now. I must say it has been a mainstay. The curve it uses *looks like* it is a little more useful than the Two Cherries, but I can't compare them directly because I only have the Schneider.

In any case, everyone ought to have at least one curved chisel. I have found I use it more than all the others combined.

Darn it you guys. Now I'm Jonesing for one. I have a curved chisel but not of the quality you guys are speaking of. I just finished a rolling bench for my new joiner/planer. I have been rounding up all the necessary materials to build a thickness sander. I've either got everything or have it on order so that's soon to be a done deal and I can get started on my next build. Gonna try out that MM. Problem is my wife today when she found I had finished rounding up the materials for the sander said so your going to stop spending money for awhile? I'll just whine and stuff till she lets me have it. The Chisel that is. Lol
