So, after my first neck angle debacle (which I remedied) I have another
chance to do it right on my second. I have flush cut the top and back
to meet the sides. I have check the angle on my Martin neck and it's
almost 91deg. I don't have a digital angle gauge so that's what it looks
like to me.
So, if it's 91deg at the neck then the complimentary angle at the
body should be 89deg. 91+89=180. Am I on the right track?

Are you sure that neck angle is not 89?

If it is a Martin neck the neck angle should be closer to 88.7* (and the body would be 91.3*). Are you sure you measured it right?

I got the neck from the Guitar Makers Connection. I measured it exactlyTim Benware wrote:If it is a Martin neck the neck angle should be closer to 88.7* (and the body would be 91.3*). Are you sure you measured it right?
the way it's pictured. Am I holding the neck the wrong way to get the
measurement?

In any case your compass is giving you both angles you need. The way you were reading it you were getting the matching rim to top angle which is obtuse.
