My piece of ebony from the eBay source cited above just arrived. It does have streaking, but they are quite attractive. The wood is exceptionally dense and defect free. Could get four huge bridges out of it. Six smaller ones. A number of tailpieces, depending on size. I consider it a bargain.

I just received my ebony today and as John says it has some streaking but is really nice looking. No checks or defects, I am very pleased. I am into it for $42 with shipping and I am sure that I can get a minimum of 4 bridges out it. Incredibly dense and heavy.
