F-hole guitar, new clip

Post by Dave Bagwill » Mon Aug 19, 2013 10:09 pm

Same strings that I first put on, no eq or effects, thumbpick no fingerpicks
I stuck the little mic into the soundport of the f-hole guitar, thence into a $29 Behringer thingamabob, into that little tube amp and right into the computer.
I could probably eq it a bit, or record again with the mic pointing to a different part of the body cavity, but for a quick and dirty I'm pretty happy.
Open 'D', capo 4th fret.

Clip and link do nothing on my computer?? Why not just attach the wav. file?

Ken, I had to download the clip, which was easy to do. It is 10 megs - took about 10 seconds. Then just about anything on my PC will play it, including Quicktime.

Dave's instrument has a lot more sustain that I expected, and the sound is "darker" too, that is, bass is richer than expected. Expectations, of course, are based sheerly upon the various theories/biases/myths that I have collected over the years from reading too much guitar building literature.
