I agree there is no need to "argue" about the sound quality of different guitars. It seems some search endlessly for the one magic bullet to create the "tonal characteristic" that pleases their ears. I believe Brain nailed one factor relative to old Martins --- aging -- all the resins in the wood and the glues have solidified and that in itself will make the materials a little more reflective and responsive.

No Arguing from my point of view, everyone here agrees that it's a subjective thing.
I don't think there's any guitar that is set up correctly that really sounds "BAD" I love the instrument, have for over 60 years...some sound better than others to ME , or has more appeal for some unknown reason or just "Feels" different...but that's why there are different sizes, different woods used, different strings made, different neck widths and different playing styles and different songs played... really, it's because we are all different, if that were not so, all guitars would be the same, played the same, look the same, and of course SOUND the same to everybody...I'm so glad it's the way it is, otherwise it would kill the reason for the "Hunt" for that perfect combination and we wouldn't even be here! :) :)

Brian - I'm compelled to ask. Is that a nod to the great Wesley Willis? Now there's a guy who _knows_ great tone ;)

Brian
I asked you this on another forum before I was banned and my content purged by the Gestapo, but how do you, and now this applies to Noyage as well, how do you even know of Wessely Willis? I know him from the Howard Stern show but he was on there in the early 90's.
So...how?

Hi Tony - I don't recall where I heard of him. I don't think it was Stern but it was a radio interview somewhere. I introduced him to a co-worker who proceeded to crank Willis' tunes at the most inopportune moments.
