spanish and MT questions

Hi all,

planning my scratch build l-00, am going to get some tutoring from a young luthier, however, he builds with a spanish style neck joint, should i go with that as that is what he does, obviously not the usual thing on a steel string? He obviously knows how to do MT and DT joint but doesn't have the router jigs. Had a quick look at the LMI jig, I could probably get a neck package from Ken for similar money but i wouldn't learn how to make a neck joint of any sort, also cost is a definite issue for me. Any thoughts appreciated,

That is a giant step backwards nothing but future trouble, he likely used Willis' book as his study plan -- you need to find a different mentor. $.02
