Tail block assembly not on rim centerline

Post by jaylynch » Sun Jul 14, 2013 1:47 pm

Just completed gluing the tail block to rim. Still not right. The centerline of the tail block is off rim centerline by about 3/16". Does this matter? Do I need to get the iron out again? It is square with the rim. In the MM instructions, it is this CL alignment that is off. http://www.kennethmichaelguitars.com/si ... 50x187.jpg

Thanks,

Jay

Need a picture of your project showing the problem/issue.

Well, there is another problem that will require a do-over. I'm getting the iron out now. At least I know how to do it this time.

Are you pinning the sides to the blocks? Also mark the edges of the blocks on the sides so you can tell if anything moves.

It is inside at the bottom of the guitar why would it need to be pulled if it is square?

I did not do this but will on the next try. Do the pins have to be located in the wedge area so they will be hidden after tail wedge is put in?

Correct -- make sure to drill some holes in the caul so there's clearance for the pins
