Yes -- if you continue down, you'll see how the manual goes into detail showing how it looks when the nut is trapped on the finger-board plane, between the properly trimmed HS veneer and the end of the FB.

yes, that's the bit I'm on about, won't there be nothing to trap the nut against if i don't use the veneer.

Glue? What you're thinking has been done --- a lot! But personally I always use a HS veneer.

Thanks, more small q's I'm afraid, am going very hesitantly as don't want to mess up.

The truss rod groove in the neck is flat on the bottom all the way up to the headstock, no ramp as is in the instructions, it should still go right up to the headstock end right?

The other work on the neck ie. headstock shaping and shortening the heel to not stick out further than the back of the guitar should all be done after the FB is attached, ie, all at the same time as the final neck profile shaping is done according to the instructions?

Yes the TR fits all the way to the end.

No -- don't attach the finger-board until you have the peghead shaped, handling will be much easier. However make sure the FB is its final shape, pinned in the centered location, and its edges are marked on the neck.

Slowly progressing, headstock mostly carved, not sure if it looks rubbish or not, will post a pic in a bit. beggining to think about ordering finishing products. Am wanting to stick with the black lacquer and have been in touch with a uk company called Rothko and Frost, very helpful, for ninety odd pounds i can get rattle cans - two grain fillers, three sealers, two black, two clear or for around £20 more they can supply me with a hobby level HVLP spray kit, sufficient sealer and lacquer for the whole job plus the grain filler which would make future sprayings much more economical. I am not going to be obsessive over the quality of the finish but i don't want it to look bad or be a very difficult process. Any thoughts? Am tempted by the HVLP kit, not much more money and better in the long run?
