Rosette installed. A little stain from ca glue but I plan on flooding the top to help add some stability. I'm not sure how much it will help but worth trying. I've read about several others doing this on figured tops.

Wow, some of you guys are just rolling through these guitars! I'm working quite slow. Kids activities are slowing down for the summer so maybe I can make some progress. Here are pics of the little bit of progress I have made. Sorry for the black and white on the one pic. I was playing around with an app and erased the original color pic, but I think the bw looks kinda cool. The other is the top with a coat of ca. I've since sanded it a little but the ca shows the figure nicely. That's all for now.

Help me understand the bridge plate shape and pin hole locations -- Or are you using a pinless bridge?

Ken, I'm taking several precautionary measures for using a figured top. One of them happens to be the bridge plate. I asked around a bit about using this top, and one of the suggestions was to slightly oversize the bridge plate. Not so much in thickness but in the depth (width from neck to end). I added 1/4" to each side of the plate which probably gives an odd appearance to it. The theory behind this is, since the figured wood doesn't have the stiffness that straight grained tops typically have, they have a tendency to allow the bridge to roll more, causing more of a belly. The wider plate should help with this problem. I'm using the olf OM plan. The location of the bridge pin holes line up where the tone bars and the x brace intersect.

Made some more progress. The top is braced and glued on.trimmed the overhang from the top, which I was quite nervous doing on figured redwood.

Kyle - that's good clean workmanship. I strive for that and do not hit the mark as much as I'd like.

The bracewood and endblock look white in the picture. Are they made from englemann or what?
