I bought some from highland woodworking, you might check them out.
Shipping is an issue for sure. I just bought a portable air conditioner - 75 lbs - that was shipped for free. But I ordered a small bottle of glue for a few bucks and the shipping was $12. Go figure.

Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener
There at least two other brands that do the same thing "Veneer Tamer" and "Glue Pro"

Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener
Has anyone had any more experience with this stuff. I'm considering trying it out on some bubinga and granadillo, thicknessed to .075. Just how soft does it make the wood?? Do you still need to use water when bending? Does it even need heat to bend? Sounds like it may be somewhat magical! Thanks

Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener
It helps make the wood more bendable, but you can still break it - it doesn't get rubbery or anything like that. I have used it on veneers, and on some mahogany that was about .050". and bent it without heat in a vacuum set-up. But at .075, you would still have to be very careful, and not rely on the SS to work any magic. It does help, though.

Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener
It does make the side a little more pliable but after drying I found that the off quarter sections still had some flatish spots. Next time I use it I plan to soak the side and wrap in foil over night.

Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener
I found the 'veneer tamer' on Amazon for less than $20 with shipping, but the 'super-soft 2' I can't find for less than $30 for an 8oz bottle with shipping. For that reason I'm thinking of going with the veneer tamer. Hoping it will be as effective as the super soft seems to be based on reviews. I'll give an update after using it. In the meantime I'm fed up with charring sides on my pipe bender, and am looking into making a bending form with a blanket. Anyone know what temp wood chars at? Thanks
