Re: cocobolo binding

In my experience cocobolo is one of the easiest woods to bend and the only difference water will make is to help stop any scortching, the water won't help the bending process as cocobolo is so resinous, I doubt and moisture could be absorbed.

Re: Manzer wedge

Hi Dave If you look back through this thread and find my posts you will see the I 'pre-profiled' my sides prior to bending - you don't have that luxury as your sides were pre-bent, so agree with you that sanding them could take forever. I'd be looking at cutting the rims with a Japanese pull saw fir...

Re: Manzer wedge

I don't use a mega mould so am not sure if my advice will be any good, but couldn't you just 'jack up' one side of the rims and then use your radiused sanding beam to create the correct rim profile? I use a solid mould and radius dish, so when I'm finalising the rim contour/back radius, the sides ar...

Re: Manzer wedge

Okey-dokey - I have now used the radiused pegboard set at the correct height at the armpit area, made sure everything was lined up right, and traced the outline onto the sides with a heavy marker. So now in theory - stop me if I'm wrong!!!! - if I trim to that heavy line, a similarly braced back of...

Re: Manzer wedge

Your pegboard will have a radius at the rear and at the front, due to the arched braces, but longitudinally it will be flat as a fart and I can't atm, see your doming being very accurate or spherical in the least - please prove me wrong :)

Re: Manzer wedge

I always pre-profile my sides before bending and I work out my profiles using a radius dish and a solid mould. I tape around the inside of the mould and then set the mould on the radius dish. If you then take a 'penny' washer, you can scribe a line onto the tape by using a pencil through the hole in...
