NEW WEBSITE URL

I have moved my website --- “The Amateur Luthier” --- over to a new webhosting service (because I ran out of disk space on my Comcast account). The Comcast site will still be there for a while, but it will not contain any new material, and I will eventually close it down. (Right now, I’m slowly work...

Re: Kathy Matsushita Retired

Hi, all! I just stumbled onto this thread this morning. Thanks for all the kind comments --- I do appreciate it! And, yes, I have retired (as of this past June) and am loving it!!!! I've been pretty busy since June --- I built a second harp ukulele (I'd sold my first one to a fellow teacher), fixed ...

Re: Seems like a good idea - but is it?

Hi Kathy - A number of luthiers use the rattle cans for finishing the whole instrument, with really good results, and I'm thinking that the preval is much the same principle. Does your experience lead you to believe that the Preval sprayer, (all else being equal; I'm only talking about the ability ...

I only have one container (jar), and I spray alcohol through it after each spraying session to clean the sprayer. That seems to work fine fo...

Re: Seems like a good idea - but is it?

I think Kathy Matasushita used the preval sprayer to finish her first few intstruments, If I'm not mistaken, and they look pretty darn good. Kevin Hi...I just saw this thread today...I haven't used the PreVal sprayers to do a whole instrument, but I do use it now to do the shellac seal coats (2) I ...

Re: harp ukulele project - Back on track!

Here's my entry: Is it the fingerboard position dot at the 16th fret? (If so, no big deal, as I've seen people put dots at all sorts of positions...who's to say it has to go at the 15th?)

Re: harp ukulele project - Back on track!

Thanks! John --- the fix turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I bet you're really glad you did this. I don't know if I would have had as much patience and determination to do all that you did to make this right. Congratulations! Have fun on the finishing and final steps! Can't wait to see the finished product.
