That's where the headstock is inserted. These pics make this type of neck joint seem less scary. I'd like to try it one of these days.

I do rosettes in a similar way. I use a plywood work board. Use some 3M spray adhesive to attach a sheet of paper to the board. I then assemble the rosette using CA glue on top of the paper. When I'm done I just use a thin metal spatula to work it from the paper. Here's a pic of one in progress to h...

Wow, that's looking great! As far as the peg head, I think it would be cool to use the burl on the front to match the rosette burl and the cut offs on the back of the peg head.

Thanks Kevin. I cut the wood purfling using a cheap Xacto miter box and saw. Here are some pics of the set up and installation. Once the strips are cut it goes in just like shell purfling strips, break into place.
