Our furnace has been running overtime. Dryed out this maple back bad enough to break bracing. This had a 15' radius. I think I can save it. Maple is tough stuff.

Thin redwood top for Terz
I an building another size 5 that I will likely keep. I have a redwood top that accidently got too thin. Right at .10. It is pretty flexible both with and across grain . Could it be used for a size 5? I do not want all the braces to telegraph through. Give to someone that builds ukes?

Someone talked me out of my Dreadnought at a show the other night. Time to build me another one. I have a nice set of Claro Walnut for it. Considering POC for the top. Have any of you used it?

Something to aspire to! Mr. Benoit lived about 25 miles from me. I recently bought wood and binding from his estate. He was a master at this craft.

I retired four years ago. I had worked repairing copiers for Xerox for 40 years. I highly suggest retirement! Congratulations Herman! I have played around on some square neck. It is quite fun and a lot to learn.

Great looking jig Carl. One of these days I will try to make slots with square ends like high end Martins have. I wonder if they use a mortise and chisel bit?

Drill the side holes first to avoid blowout in the slot. I use a 1/2" forstner bit from both sides with pilot holes that go all the way through again to avoid blowing out the backside. I plan to start using a template and router for a much cleaner job. FWIW my first one got smashed across the v...
