Re: My shop space now with the new work bench, lets see yours

Interesting bench design!!!!!!! Not sure which bench you're commenting on - it's been an evolutionary process. The one in the very back is the one I built when we moved into the house, and the building was mostly storage for things like Christmas decorations. It's a stereotypical garage bench - not...

Re: My shop space now with the new work bench, lets see yours

Finished up Phase 1 of the shop this weekend. All cleaned up and ready for me to get in there and mess it all up with actual project work now. The two missing pieces at this point are a band saw (still looking for a nice saw that I can get at a price way below what it's worth), and to build/install ...

Re: Securing a template for a slotted headstock

Are there many builders here that use the masking tape and superglue method instead of double-sided tape. The former is my go-to method for temporarily holding things down, mostly because of the difficulty of removing the ds-tape.

Re: tone bar design/distribution

Bracing including the bridge itself serve to stiffen the sound board and prevent along the grain cracks A brace stiffness is proportional to the cube of its height. Where it is directly proportional to its width. If one wanted to give up some stiffness (i.e. more bass/less treble), but didn't want ...

Nice space Steve -- looks like a metal structure, any plans for humidity contol? That's a problem yet to be solved. The advantage I have is that I'm in Southern California, so most of the year, humidity isn't much of a problem, but this year's wet winter proved that "most of the time" is ...
