Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener

I found the 'veneer tamer' on Amazon for less than $20 with shipping, but the 'super-soft 2' I can't find for less than $30 for an 8oz bottle with shipping. For that reason I'm thinking of going with the veneer tamer. Hoping it will be as effective as the super soft seems to be based on reviews. I'l...

Re: Super soft 2 -- veneer softener

Has anyone had any more experience with this stuff. I'm considering trying it out on some bubinga and granadillo, thicknessed to .075. Just how soft does it make the wood?? Do you still need to use water when bending? Does it even need heat to bend? Sounds like it may be somewhat magical! Thanks Josh

Re: My first build. KMG 'D' kit.

Haven't found anything to work quite yet, unfortunately. I first sanded back down to wood, then used the JASCO stripper in the photo below. I let it sit on the wood for 15 minutes and then wiped it off. It took the oil out of the pores quite thoroughly! Then I used denatured alcohol and wiped the ba...

Re: My first build. KMG 'D' kit.

All righty. Thanks again for inquiring on my behalf. In previous attempts to 'start over' I hadn't used a stripper or alcohol or naphtha or the like, I just sanded to bare wood and wiped it with a paper towel and put a coat of the finish on. I'll try using a stripper and some naphtha before reapplyi...
