That is correct, I also used to have access to a PLEK machine which allowed milling some relief in. Not close enough to one now so back to doing by hand

Correct...then it is vertical grain (quartersawn)

I set it flat and when strung up it has proper relief (for me, couple thousandths or so) and it doesn't change...very stable, lightens the neck and also raises the resonant frequency of the neck also you can feel the vibrations of the guitar better in your left hand. It seems to make the guitar more...

Ben...no I gave that lots of thought and with the reinforcement provided by the Carbon Fiber brace I didn't deem it necessary, I also have a small radius rather than a sharp corner for the inside of block.
