Fret slot

Post by Dave Bagwill » Tue Feb 02, 2016 7:44 pm

I picked this up whilst cruising the net:

John Arnold: I cut the slots straight on a table saw before cutting the radius. I usually cut them about 0.120" deep, then the radius reduces the depth on the edges to about 0.095".

Is this about what you do as well? For the typical fretwire?

How long a tang are you slotting for, Tim?

The tang is about 0.060" but when radiusing and doing some of the inlays I like to err a little extra. I come out real close rather have a little more room than not enough.
