Restoring hand planes

A couple more scores.
The first one is a Stanley Bedrock 605, Type 4 made between 1908 and 1910. Found it on Craigslist for $10. Had to have it mailed, but for $23 total I consider it a steal. It should clean up nicely. The lever cap at the bottom is worn a bit but overall in great shape.

The second one is another Stanley #4 smooth bottom, flea market find for $6. It is a type 16 made between 1933 and 1941. Other than the break in the tote, in wonderful condition.
Fun fun fun.

Very nice work Kevin. I'm curious as to how you resurface the soles. I have several mostly intact planes that you have inspired me to restore.

Hey I haven't put up a picture in a few months as this is the first great find I've made in awhile.
It is a Stanley Bailey 5 1/4 made in the 1929-1930 time. It is near perfect, with just a little bit of chip on the very top edge of the tote. The rest of the wood is great. No cracks, and I don't expect there to be much pitting if any. The blade is near 100%. I am pretty excited as this is the first 5 1/4 I've come across, and for $10, how can you go wrong. When ever I can get it cleaned up I'll show an "after" pic too.

i have that very plane, which I got at a junky tool shop in Tucson for $35, but it was in fair condition, no real cleaning needed. it is an excellent plane. Good score on your part.
