Shooting Board

Post by Tj Turner » Thu Nov 13, 2014 12:28 am

So I finally got to spend some time in the shop yesterday. I broke down and bought a shooting plane, as I want to switch my joining process to a hand plane. And with the plane, I had to build a shooting board. I used MDF as the base, which I can bolt to my workbench. The plane is a Veritas from Lee Valley Tools, and I got their track to run the plane along. All in all, it works pretty smooth. I'll try joining some plates this weekend.

TJ, I've heard that the learning curve is very very difficult, and to spare you any pain, I suggest you send the entire thing to me and I will dispose of it for you. Yes I have a big heart and like to help people.

In short, I am envious, as I have coveted that exact set-up for years. Sweet!!!
