Pore-O-Pac reducer substitute?

Post by Jim Ball » Thu Oct 02, 2014 2:52 pm

I bought a quart of Pore-O-Pac neutral to experiment with, but forgot to order the reducer. Is there a substitute I could use? I keep most of the common solvents & thinners in my shop: Mineral Spirits, Acetone, Alcohol, MEK, etc. I can get Japan Dryer & Turpentine at the local Home Depot, if needed. I'm just trying to save a $10.00 shipping fee on one bottle of reducer. Had I remembered to order both together, it would have been much cheaper.

Here's a doc from Garret Wade that mentions it can be reduced with Mineral spirits

Thank you! Exactly the information I needed to know, and the rest of the article is very handy also.
