Of all the dust collectors (5) and shop vacs (I lost count) this model is the quietest and most pwerful

I wish they would cite the CFM it pulls. Thats what I used to decide on the one I bought. Mine is a SHop Vac, open box sale from Lowes. Paid $60 for a $120 vac. And it sucks at 240 cfm if memory serves.

I believe its the same as machine as the Shop Vac Quiet Deluxe 5 HP

I will be using one of these on each of the CNC machines hooked up to a Dust Deputy mounted on a 30 gallon steel trash can -- awesome! Works much better than our Grizzly 2 HP dust collector doing split duty for two CNC's. I think its 1400 CFM 5" input.

FYI, Consumer Reports rates the Craftsman 17762 as the best buy, with an overall rating of 87/100.
The Ridgid WD1850 came in at a very close second, but is more expensive.
The Crafstman 17066 came in third.

On medium capacity Vacs, Ridgid took the top two spots, Craftsman third. ShopVac took fourth and fifth in both categories.

At $110 the large Craftsman seems to be a good value... at under $60 - it's a great deal!

Some of the Craftsman models are pretty crappy and loud but this model "sucks" in a good way.

I have to add that we returned one of the units mentioned --- this model normally is very quite compared to most shop vacs --- so if it emmits a high pitch noise it is defective and should go back for exchange.
