First KMG kit completed - 12th fret 000

Post by Oli K_ » Sun Oct 11, 2015 7:36 am

Put the strings on yesterday. Still needs a setup but the action was quite playable straight away. Sounds great so far - very strong bass and very warm sound, perfect for blues and country songs. Will put up a video once it has settled in and I have got the action perfect.

Thankyou to Ken for constant advice and support, and thankyou to Dave for advice on getting the best from a tru oil finish. It's been great fun building, and it definitely won't be my last. Ken, your kits are fantastic; the supplied tonewood is very high quality and the instructions and mold-based construction process was do-able even for someone with literally no wood work experience.

The guitar looks exactly how I wanted. The ivoroid binding and tuner buttons I am particularly pleased with, and the worn sheen of the open pore tru oil finish is perfect. The top has gone a lovely colour too.

Thanks again guys!

Excellent work! You've made a very fine-looking guitar, and I'll bet it sounds awesome too.

Very nice Oli. The Tru-Oil finish is exactly what I'll be shooting for. How about a pic with the tuners showing?
