I'm sure there will be varied opinions on this, Jon. I - and now my students - use the CA method I used above; the only caveat is to be precise with the glue, using a fine tip on the bottle, and do use the accelerator.

Don't forget when using CA that the Spruce must be sealed with lacquer to prevent the end grain from taking on a non-reversible florescent yellow green stain!!

Yes! I should have mentioned that. Though with the accelerator the danger is less, it is still something to be careful about.
