Kristen, I would definitely go with a bandsaw. Something like a Record Power BS250 will serve you well for a couple of years and you would still get most of your money back if you sell it before returning home.

I just bought some of the same lamps from Ikea in the UK as I like that they clamp to the shelf I have above my workbench. £8.50. So not twice the price but still not as cheap!

That looks like a really neat set up! What is the front contact plate made from? It looks like it has developed some scratches but I am assuming that there are no corresponding marks on the soundboard?
